At 8:00AM on October 17th a group of 20 veterans from WWII, Korea, and Veitnam Wars bordered a bus provided by Monroe Township
to bring good tidings to mostly wheelchair veterans at Lyons VA hospital and homeless veterans at Veterans Haven North in Glen Gardner,NJ.
The 12 members of American Legion Post 522 brought gifts of clothes, toiletries, beddings, laundry accessories, watches, alarm clock radios,
and a large coffee maker; 6 members of Jewish War Veterans and 2 of Korean War Veterans provided check donations. At Lyons, Bingo was
held at 2 locations for the patients, using canteen vouchers as prizes donated by Monroe Veterans Council and American Legion Post 522.
Then after lunch at the Lyons cafeteria, on to Veterans Haven North to deliver gifts and donation checks, and meet with the veterans of
recent wars being housed and educated at this facility. Returned to Monroe Township before 4:00PM.
